Vandenberg Air Force Base SLC-3E Upgrade Lund Engineering was contracted to modify and design retractable service platforms for the SLC-3E launch complex upgrade at Vandenberg AFB. Design work included retractable platforms and a vertically translating man lift. Lund also did extensive design and construction support on ground support equipment systems. All liquid oxygen (LOX) fuel piping was modeled in 3D using Solid Works. LOX piping could be designed with consideration for considerable expansion and contraction without causing interferences or greater than allowable loads. Modeling allowed for smooth integration with existing and newly designed systems.
