PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Stian has been an engineer at Lund Engineering since August of 2001. During his mechanical studies at school he has participated in the following projects:

  • Making of a wood turning lathe. In Stian’s second year at the vocational training school he produced parts in conventional lathes/milling machines and in CNC machines for a wood turning lathe.

  • Conceptual design of a pneumatic PLC controlled hay vacuum packing machine.

  • Design of a PLC controlled hoisting winch for a freight elevator. Stian was involved in all aspects of the design, calculations, drawings, and the PLC programming in his last year at Kongsberg Technical Engineering School. 3D layouts were done in AutoCAD.

  • Design of a High Voltage load breaker cabinet. A SF6 pressurized load breaker able to break loads up to 24KV. Also in this project Stian was involved in all the steps such as research, solid modeling, FEA analysis, and drafting (senior project at Buskerud College.)

While working at Lund Engineering he has participated in:

  • Drafting parts of a preformer. A tool that forms ducts used in Boeing airplanes.

  • FEA analysis using  MSC. visualNastran4D

  • Solid modeling and drafting of a bead former for ducts. A tool that makes a bead form in the ducts.

Before Stian came to USA he studied mechanics/mechanical engineering for 6 years in Norway. Stian spent also a year in the Royal Norwegian Air Force as a corporal before he started on his engineering degree. He came to USA to finish his Mechanical Engineering degree and started to work at Lund Engineering after he graduated from Washington State University. While in school he have been trained in using different engineering software (CAD/CAM/FEA) such as SolidWorks, ProEngineer, AutoCAD, CAMWorks, COSMOS, and ANSYS. He also has experience in CNC-programming, C++, and knows his way around Microsoft Office.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Besides enjoying being an engineer Stian likes to go sailing, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, alpine skiing, and cross country skiing.
