WABCO, Large Open Pit Mining Truck

While working for the Construction, Equipment Division of the Westinghouse Airbrake Co. in the early 70's, Gil Lund was part of an engineering team, designing and building mobile construction equipment. The product line included Scrapers, Road Graders, Front End Loaders and Mining Dump Trucks. On the 200 ton payload mining truck pictured here, Gil was responsible for the design of the drive gear unit, rear suspension and truck body weldment, and acted as engineering liaison to the manufacturing department.
