Mechanized Hog Fuel Furnace Raking Equipment for Georgia Pacific Paper CompanyThe Hog Fuel Rake was designed and installed in the Georgia Pacific Plant in Bellingham Washington to replace their old manual furnace raking procedures. The method of using long manual rake tools has been in use for many years and over time it has resulted in significant ergonomic problems for the operators. The new mechanized rake replaces the manual method with a compressed air driven machine run by a single operator. While at Hamilton Engineering Mark Dix was Principal Engineer, responsible for the conceptual and detail design as well as the installation and commissioning of the Raking equipment.
